This class is designed to introduce students to a broad range of topics in biology and how they relate to humans. Using a traditional lecture format coupled with scientific inquiry exercises, we will examine a variety of topics, including the biology underlying food and nutrition, how humans obtain energy, the role of biotechnology in everyday life, the basis for the diversity of life, simple genetics, and humans’ relationship to the environment.
